Operatic Gala on the 29th of September

We are delighted to be performing in aid of Dorothy House Hospice once again on the 29th September. We are keeping the concert close to home and in memoriam of a colleague at Stonar School, Mrs Sandy Muir.

The concert is in two distinct halves.  The first will be full of popular operatic classics, including the Pearl Fisher’s Duet, Largo al factotum (Barber of Seville),  well known choruses such as Va Pensiero (Nabucco) as well as some lesser known, but none the less beautiful arias,  such as ‘Il est doux, il est bon’ from Massenet’s Herodiade.

The second half will be a light hearted tribute to the operas of Gilbert and Sullivan.  Soloists Susan Coates, Sophie Meehan, Phillip Borge and Ashley Bremner will be accompanied by concert pianist Nick Goodall.  The Stonar School Choir will be joining in with the choruses and there will also be a good deal of audience participation!

We are delighted that Graham Billing will act as compere for the evening, adding his own Gilbert and Sullivan solo to the programme.

Our Tenor for the evening, Phillip Borge, will be flying back to the West Country from his home in Gibraltar. Phillip was a founder member of Opera Sulis and we are delighted that he has made time in his busy schedule to help us raise funds for Dorothy House in memoriam of our colleague. You can buy tickets at £10 each by contacting us here or by any of the other methods listed on the poster below.
